Remote Control for EOS 5 (A2E/A2)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have an EOS 10 with which I use an infra red RC1 remote control button for tripod shots. This is really useful. I have the chance to acquire an EOS5. I know I have the option to connect a 60T3 remote unit to the EOS5 but does anyone know if I can use the RC1 in conjunction with this so that the operation is fully remote? Secondlly is the EOS3 a better bet than the EOS5? Rgds Tim

The RC-1 will not work with the EOS 5/A2/A2e. It does work with the 10/Elan/ElanII. None others that I'm aware of. It's a shame since it is such a handy device.

The 3 is a much better camera than the 5, but nearly twice the money. The 5 is the oldest EOS camera being sold today so it will probably be the next one replaced. Possibly as early as this fall. Still, it's a great camera and is priced well for what it is.

The biggest failing that the 5 has compared to newer Canon designs is the older flash metering (A-TTL compared to E-TTL). This is not much of a concern for most users, but it is a nice improvement for others.
