Potential Lifespan for Each Breed (spoiler)(repost)

Potential Lifespan of the 38 pure-breed (SPOILER)

Recently I did some test using a Gameshark and a memory editor in order to understand the dynamics of MR2. During this search, I discovered the memory location governing lifespan and I decided to check various breeds of monsters to see how long they may live. LIFESPAN: I found that the potential lifespan of each monster is determined by a preset value which varies depending on type and sub-type. Depending on events and the trainer's actions, this value may go up or down (mostly). If not affected by excess stress, fatigue, injury or items, this value wiil decrease at a rate of one per week. In essence, it's your monster's biological clock. When that clock hits zero it is...you guessed it... shooting star time. What I'm presenting are the maximum potential lifespan of all 38 purebreed monsters. Note that these values do NOT take into account life altering items such a Magic Bananas, Peaches, Disk Chips, and Drugs. The lifespan of the crossbreds can be determined by averaging the values of the main and sub breeds and rounding up to the nearest ten. The lifespans will be expressed in weeks. Note that this shows POTENTIAL lifespan, not how long the monster will live. Long natural lifespans are no substitute for good raising. I hope you will find this useful.

Good job DP but can you please tell me the cost of the events like how much do the peaches add and how about drugs what do they do.

-- Rion Beyolve (twopaclives@hotmail.com), March 26, 2000.

I shall deliver:)

Gold Peach +50 weeks
Silver Peach +25 weeks
Magic Banana +1 or -1 week
Larox -4 weeks
Manseitan -5 weeks
Troron -6 weeks
Paradoxine -18 weeks
Nageel, Kasseitan, and Teromeann -20 weeks
Battles (not tested)

Is that helpful?

thanks DF!! that was realy good!

it looks like (since undines and pixies usually live about six years, and they are both 400, that the average lifespan is about 6-7years... not 4 years...

im thinkin 450 would mean about 7 years, and 500 would be 7-8 years...what do yall think? i know it would be ALOT more for the master trainers, and alot less for the beginers, but...

What about stress? Maybe -1 week

-- Mike Sugs (sugan@ibm.net), March 26, 2000.

This is all VERY interesting as my moster raising experience with different breeds seems to agree with the data you have discovered. I have a gameshark but haven't had the time to dig into the game that deep. Thanks for the info! Would you please post the code to turn off the lifespan clock?

-- Rich (Master_Rancher@webtv.net), March 26, 2000.

ANOTHER GREAT POST DP!!! If this doesn't answer peoples lifespan questions, nothing will.

-- Tony (amcdaniel@riteaid.com), March 26, 2000.

Great work, DP! However, I still think there's gotta be more work to be done here... I'm pretty sure that different monsters react differently to different things. For instance, when I was training my Mocchi, it could take a whole lot of crap. I had a method of (HD,HD,HD,HD,Rest) and it still lived a good 7 1/2 years, without ever getting stressed. While training my Joker, I tried that for a little while. Within two months, it was stressed out.

-- Mikey (SifDraco@AOL.com), March 26, 2000.

Mikey: That stuff has yet to determined but my observations seem to back you up. Some monsters do appear to be more fragile than others. Pixies can't seem to take stress very well whereas certain monsters like Golems can withstand tremendous punishment. It may be worth looking into, but it will take awhile.

Rich: This code should stop your monster's biological clock. Remember though that monster will be stuck in whatever stage it was in when you use the code. The code is : 80097A30 00xx. Just enter any value other than zero where the X's go. Don't enter zero as a value whatever you do. Doing so means instant death.

-- Dark Phoenix (Arax7@aol.com), March 26, 2000.

Trey: Practically the only way the get the monster to live it's maximum lifespan is to rest practically it's whole life. Battles and errantries can bring the numbers above down by quite a bit and as Mikey points out, some monsters are more fragile than others and are more prone to lose lifespan due to stress and fatigue.

-- Dark Phoenix (Arax7@aol.com), March 26, 2000.

That's pretty amazing. Do you have a web site DP?

-- Linkio (linkio@yahoo.com), March 26, 2000.

WOW, nice list Dark Phoenix.

-- RaPtOr2157 (raptor2157@aol.com), March 26, 2000.

Hey, could I put it on my site?

-- RaPtOr2157 (raptor2157@aol.com), March 26, 2000.

Pixies live to 6 years? Your pulling my leg right? ok..could someone PLEASE send to my email address how I could raise a durahan, pixie and a naga. They're my favourite...please.....thanks

-- Mike (wemic@fcmail.com), March 26, 2000.

Yes it's diffcult, but not impossible. Remember that battles and errantries decrease a monster lifespan by a significant amount. Basically the only way to get a Pixies to live over six years without peaches is to rest them their whole life. Who would want to do that?

-- Dark Phoenix (Arax7@aol.com), March 26, 2000.

Thanks a lot Dp this will definately help me out with my Ultumate gaol cause Im workin on Dragons and Joker's and thier lifesspan is a real problem now with this info I can calculate and will know at the very least a approximate of thier total lifespan.Great Post DP.

-- Rion Beyolve (twopaclives@hotmail.com), March 26, 2000.

you're exactly right, rion. i'm a little tough on my monsters, so they live nowhere near this long... but now i know the parameters, i can adjust - a little harsher, a little easier, as i need and as circumstances indicate.

all hail dark phoenix!

I have read, here on other posts, that going to a fight decreases life by 2 weeks, i hope this can help.

-- omnipotent (fahr@sprint.ca), March 27, 2000.

Pretty good research, can't expect much less from Dark Phoenix can we. I was curious though, what are the effects of 2nd, 3rd gens. Is it +50 weeks per generation or something?

-- John Doe (www.---@whatever.com), March 27, 2000.

No, generations do not seem to lengthen the lifespan of the monsters. My 11th (or 4th, depending on how you look at it), generation Pixie lasted a little over 7 years. My 1st generation (fresh off the disk) Angel lasted 7 years and 3 months. What generations does is gives the monster access to some of his primary parent's training (techniques, and seemingly usages of techniques), and increased starting statistics.

Thanx

-- John Doe (www.---@whatever.com), March 27, 2000.

And according to both DP's and Berge's info is that people who claim to get 23 year old Golem's are lying(most likely, who knows...). But im still waiting for more info on that whole generation thing, but I fully agree with you Berge...

-- Vheod (belgrath16@aol.com), March 27, 2000.

Thanks, Dark Phoenix! The things you come up with are amazing. You make MR2 a much richer place to be.

-- locke (iti@gate.net), March 27, 2000.

No way generations definately lengthen lifespan My 1st gen Jill live only 6 yrs and 2nd & 3rd lived 9yrs and up this was definately proof also if u read any of my earlier posts my most powerful monster were almost all multiple generations for 1st gen tend to live shorter.

-- Rion Beyolve (twopaclives@hotmail.com), March 28, 2000.

Wow, this is probably the latest in "monster rancher discoveries". We don't get many of those around here anymore. Even though I'm not playing the game anymore, It's good to know that we still have some experts testing this stuff out. Thanks, Dark Phoenix. Hey, I guess there's no need for the Bazoula Collaboration anymore, huh?

Rion, look at "Is generation a factor for lifespan?" from the "raising/training" category and you'll have a sound theory that should explain why your later gens live longer.

-- RNA (RNA@Ribosome.nuc), March 28, 2000.

A Jill can live almost 10 years, with peaches and the Mock disk chips it could live almost 11 years, or so...

-- Vheod (belgrath16@aol.com), March 28, 2000.

Wow, I can't believe that mews have such a long lifespan! I must've raised mine really poorly. Either that or they have an extremely short stage 1 and 2.
