We haven't won in London since 1997. Can't remember when our last goal at Wembley was. We've gotten our Wembley goal. Tonight we get our london win. Look out Hammers. The Mags go marching ON ON ON! :-D

I'm sure if the stats went back further, they wouldn't get much better. When was our last win in London? Scary. I'm sure we won a couple in our first season up.

We beat Crystal Palace in November 1997 or something, I'll just have a look at the stats.

Remember Peter scoring a last minute winner at Spurs 5/6 yrs ago .

Yup, we beat Crystal Palace 2-1 on the 29 Nov 1997.

Since they have chosen to highlight the 16 AWAY games in London since then, let's look at the 16 before then as well shall we?

Lost 5
Drawn 7
Won 4 (West Ham, Arsenal, Spurs and QPR)

Ciara,

Since you ask, our previous Wembley goal was scored by Alan Gowling (ex-manure) in the 2-1 defeat by Manchester City in the 1976 League (now Worthless) Cup Final.

As usual I was there! We played pretty well, being beaten by a goal scored by a Geordie lad called Dennis Tuert with an overhead kick. The Toon had been riven by flu in the two weeks leading up to the game, and in the circumstances performed pretty well - but as usual, lost.

Dennis Tuert was a school pal of mine, and came through the youth system at S'land before moving on to Man City, where he is now a Director with a posh accent, a la Sting.

I'm delighted you seem to have had a good time over here, despite the defeat, and that you saw the Toon Army in full cry supporting a team that did us all proud, even in defeat.

Safe journey home - I'm actually heading west on Friday, to Washington DC. We're staying with my bro-in-law for a week, then heading further west to stay with friends in Scottsdale for another week. I'm really looking forward to playing some golf in the sun, and getting away from this bloody awful 'Spring' weather!
