Do you believe in love at first sight? Why or why not?

I hate to be the cynic (okay, maybe I don't) but I don't believe in love at first sight. Attraction/lust at first sight, yes, but not love. That initial attraction is the hook, maybe plants a seed for love and is often mistaken for love but...it isn't love. Travis, on the other hand, says that he knew he was going to spend the rest of his life with me the very first time he spoke to me. I allow him his romantic delusions and he allows me my cranky cynicism. Maybe it doesn't matter how love begins, but what we do with it afterwards.

i would like to believe in love at first sight, though i haven't experienced it myself. i have become pretty fascinated/obsessed by people at first sight, but none of those have actually blossomed into love (at least not with that person -- once one led indirectly and partially into my first serious relationship, but that's another story.) i think i believe that it is possible for the seeds of love to be planted at first sight, but if you expect the full blown thing you're most likely going to be disappointed. maybe it does happen, anything can happen (this is why i sucked at Probability) but the chances are slim to none (i sucked at Probability, so i can't tell you the percentages, sorry) and if you expect it you're going to waste most of your life expecting.

Aw yeah. Well, I thought it was love at first sight (each of the at least four times it's happened), but it turned out to be just "extreme like" at first sight. I still believe, though...
