Information on the "I G N RR"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Shortline, Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railroading : One Thread

I"m the son of a railroad family (Texas & Pacific). As such, I've collected RR memorabilia, and recently acquired two caboose lamps (outside, signal) with "I G N RR" stamped on them. I'm reasonably sure that these aren't from any large line, but most likely from a 'shortline' railroad. Any ideas or knowledge of such a line would most humbly be appreciated. Thanks for any consideration. Will Guidry, New Iberia, LA

Will,

The IGN - International and Great Northern was a major predecessor line to the Missouri Pacific. Its headquarters were in Palestine Texas and ran up through East Texas. I am not an expert on the IGN but suggest you contact the folks at the Gulf Coast Chapter of the NRHS. I know there are T&P and M&P fans in that chapter in Houston. They have a website, etc.

Hope this helps,
