I would like some critiques of Poe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

I know that he was an alcholic, he enjoyed writing about death and so forth, but I need more substance. You hear all over in the websites that he recieved great critism...but where can I find this critism? Did they like his work? You read bits that his work was not really appreciated until now...but what did critics say? Please help!

Thank you

Cass: Go to search yahoo. This internet sight has a lot of info, and is really interesting to read. There is so much information on him I think you will be able to figure out what his critics think. Personally, I love his work, and it can either scare the crap out of you or it can touch your heart. That is the main reason I think he is a great and talented poet, and or writer.

Cass, I personally don't have an e-mail address so don't respond by e-mail, please. The e-mail address listed is my friend's. This is from Melissa Collins.

There is alot of good criticism in the literary criticism books. They are able to be located at a local library; For instance I found some great criticism in "Research Guide to Biography and Criticism" published by Research Publishing. I hope this can be of some help to you.
