digital camera recommendation for images on websites

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I need some help picking a digital camera to use for taking pictures for my website. I have an automobile picture site and I will be taking most of my pictures outdoors, usually bright and sunny. I also need alot of memory for many pictures. Some car shows that I go to may have 300 cars or more.I would also think I would need a wide angle lens. Battery life is also a concern. Thanks for any advice you can give.

canon A50 sounds perfect, or maybe even an older canon A5-zoom since you're only displaying pics on the web and not printing. Both go wider than most digicams, down to 28mm equiv. You can buy extra batteries.

I have an A50 with a 48MB compact flash card that I purchased for $105 at buy.com. That would give you over 300 pictures on a single flash at 640x480 mode which is fine for web. With current A50 prices (300-350) you could get everything you need including the recharger/battery kit for under $500.
