HELP on making a VCD w/ adaptec and playing on a VCD/DVD player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I recently bought a sony DVD/VCD player. I made my first VCD and it worked. Now, every other VCD i made did not work. I'm using Adaptec Video Cd creator. From mpeg to vcd.

if the dvd still recognizes your vcd but just does not play the video, it might be storing the videos in the segment directory instead of the mpegav dir. this happened to me it its just the mpeg driver was changed, it used to be windows media file but changed to xing. look at the adaptec site for info.

one tip is to test before before creating. then when the test is done, go to view/show easy cd creator - it will show you the image of your vcd. check if the dat files is in the mpegav dir. if it is there then it should play in your dvd.

another tip is to create a vcd in a cd rewritable first (if your dvd player reads cdr it should read cdrw, my pioneer dvd does) and you can test out the vcd first.

In case you are meaning that your Adaptec software will no longer accept Mpeg video to burn then there could be another problem. If you have installed any new software like a video player or another type of CD software or anything involving the video part of multimedia then it may have changed a line in your Windows system.ini that will give you problems when you try to add a valid Mpeg to the EZCD Video Creator play list. My web site has details about how to fix this if this is your problem. Go to the ATI Problems page at my site and look for the note with the following Title (or something like it) "I just installed MMC 6.2 and now my EZCD Video Creator won't work".

Caution to those who use RealMagic Holywood Plus Mpeg 2 encoder card. Its software conflicts with VCD Creator. You must manually correct the system.ini and win.ini file after installing the software. Only then can you install VCD Creator without problem.
