Anyone use L-View image editor? Is there a manual/tutorial?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have a registered copy of L-View Pro V2.0 which I've used for several years for image cropping, format conversions, transparent gif's and other simple manipulations. I'm finally getting a digital camera -- the Coolpix 950 reached my price point of $500. After the rebate. Well, almost reached it. Anyway, now I want to start doing some more serious image editing.

L-View appears to be a powerful program. By dinking around with it, I've managed to do some things like "bluing up" the sky and some simple masking. But it's mostly trial and error. I don't understand things like gamma correction, logarithmic brightness or hyperbolic sine. The help file that comes with the program is very brief and doesn't not address these topics. The website does not have any additional information. I guess that the programmer figured that people using his program would already know these things.

Has anyone here found or written a manual or tutorial for this program? Can anyone recommend a book or (preferably) an online source of general image editing basics?

I hate to invest in a new program when I think that L-View will do everything that I need it to. I just need some help getting started...

Thanks! -Ray
