Semi final countdown.

Well, I make it about 31 hours to go! I may be that I`ve missed them, but has anyone seen any training ground reports lately? Also, no team picks yet, or scoreline predictions? Maybe I`ve not been looking in the right places! I`ve been a bit busy this week.

Galaxy, I've predicted 2-0 on my "Chewsea omen thread", what about you and Yellie?

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2000

Well, I haven`t been correct once this season so far! But, I have a horrible feeling that it will be a single goal game - so 1 - 0 to us, of course! Shearer to score in the 87th minute! (:o)

You may get a prediction from Yelli - but it will be much closer to lunchtime!

Are you off to the match?

Can anyone remember who used to post the training ground reports?

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2000

Dear Ma,

Thanks for making my sandwiches - they will keep me well fed on my trip south until I arrive at Hotel Dougal. As I told you, I'm expecting to meet a few good friends down there and enjoy a few beers and laughs with them.

Tomorrow, we are heading to an old favourite place of ours in North East London. I think there will be a few of us headed in that direction.

Anyway - must dash as I have a long journey in front of me. Thanks again for the bait. See you in a few weeks.

Screach

PS. I won't be home for tea.

Dear ma, I won't be home for tea today, or tommorow for that matter, so put it in the dog. I'm actually having a dog in a strawberry for lunch with a soft doctor, or something. 9.30 in the morning and I'm already drunk....

You take it easy now Rik - it`s going to be a long weekend! (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2000

Good morning Galaxy. It's usually Steph who files the training ground reports. She started her pilgrimage on Thursday I believe, so we won't get anything from her.

With Dr.Bill, Rik, Softie, Screacher, etc. heading dahn sawf today, and Ciara heading east, it may be fairly quiet on here today. I'll be around, as I'm travelling down by coach tomorrow morning at 6am!!

My prediction is 1-0, with AS scoring the winner in the 79th minute. Team:

Given

Barton...Helder...Dabs...Hughes

Solano...Lee...Speed ...Gallacher

AS...DF

Subs:Harper, Howey, Domi, Dyer, Kets.

You heard it first here folks.

I always hate to make a prediction, but I will go this far. Sunday April 9 2000, "The Day of Duncan Ferguson". The lad will be so fired up. I reckon two for Big Dunc.

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2000

Hi Clarky!

So we`re thinking along the same scoreline are we!

Here`s to a brilliant game tomorrow!

I guess you are right - it`ll be pretty quiet as the Toon Army marches south, east, west, whatever! I`ll keep checking in though - if only to pass the time! 27 and three quarter hours to go now, by my reckoning!

To Pete in Canada - your posting worries me a bit! I know what you mean, but sometimes he can get a bit too fired up! Don`t want any card happy ref`s either. I`m a bit torn on this one, I`d love to see Big Dunc come out and frighten the pants of Cheesy Chelsea, but not enveloped in a cloud of red mist! Ooh, I`ve gone and made myself get all nervous again now! HOWAY THE LADS!!!!!!!!!!!

Has Pete in Canada become "Sleepless in Seattle" perchance?

It's 11:30 GMT, so it must be what 3:30am in Seattle?

Have a great weekend and enjoy the match - I intend to!

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2000

By the way Pete - can you give me a `wish you were here` type report on Seattle - I`m hoping to go next year! First hand reports are so much better than any travel guide! Have a good one! (:o)

Deer ma

Am riting you this postkard now in case too busy/tired/emotional/ill later. Me and mi freinds are meeting in the Strawbeery real soon (blimey i better hurry up) then getting the train dahn sarf. It'll be a very long trip, and we will need lots of refreshments! After we get there we will have some more refreshments, then go and see the sites. I hope we are going to Trafalgafalgar Square like last time. Some blerky took all his clothes off and went for a swim in the fountains. Next day mi freinds told me it was me (cos mi memory wasn't very good), which was nice. But it wasn't me at all. He was a much bigger blerk, espeshully in that cold.

Tomorrow we are going to see the Post Office, which I think has a caff on top of a big tower, so that will be a nice place for some more refreshments. Then on to some more towers, two of them, for some community singing with lots more freinds.

On monday morning we have to be up reel early to get the 6:15 train back home, so will definitely NOT BE HOME FOR TEA. Tell you about it on Monday (if I can remember). Yr son Billy

I don't like to make predictions as a rule but I will make an exception with this match. I'm going for a 2-1 sort of score line with Shearer to score one and possibly Ferguson or Dyer the other!!!

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2000

Dr.Bill - hope you`ve packed your swimming cozzie this year then! Have a great weekend! (and be safe!) HOWAY THE LADS!!!!! (:o)

Leading United into the Final would be my finest hour - Bobby Robson

With the Ronnie's Boston correspondent en route to the Twin Towers, I thought I better stand in. The Ronnie provides the following emotional quotes from Bobby as he completed his preparations for tomorrow's FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea at Wembley:

"I would be very proud if I could take this club to the FA Cup final. In fact I would go as far as to say that it would be my proudest moment considering where we were when I came. I have to say that my father would have been a very proud man." "We have come a long, long way since I came here and the way we have all worked together has pleased me." "Getting to the FA Cup final in front of a world-wide audience would enhance the credibility and reputation of the club, and it would give us a scenario that winning would put us in Europe next season which I would say would be worth about #5 million to us." "We have got that winning feeling about us. I have no doubt that the players will go out and play to win, and they will not be afraid of Chelsea in any shape or form." The great man has spoken - make it so!

Nice one! If that`s how wor Bobby sees it - that`s the way it is!

21 hours to go - early bath for me - then out for a curry! (:o)

I've decided to make the 150 mile trip to Ft Lauderdale to see the game live on TV. I thought the odds were interesting: Chelsea are the hot favorites, yet Shearer is favorite to score the first goal. I think there is a strong possibility that one goal will do the trick, in which case Newcastle will do it! Howay the Lads

Hi Floridian - long time no post?

I thought I was the only one left not boozing in Lahndon tonight!

Out of sheer bordeom I've just registered on the Official Site bbs - IT IS GRIM!!

I sincerely hope your 150 mile drive proves worthwhile. I'm doing 300 miles tomorrow - to the Twin Towers, and I'm just starting to feel the old nerves jangling. Fancy us to win though in a tight game, possibly even going to ET, but please no pens!

Greetings Floridean, I was beginning to think we had lost you during our flit from Communicata to Homespun Greenspan, your reapearance puts up the batting averages somewhat, These young mags are way to sharp for the Buffalo.

-- Anonymous, April 08, 2000

Seems very strange not to be heading for the Shakespear in Lauderdale myself this year Perhaps me not being there will change the result Enjoy it Floridian

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2000

Well, 12.30, and only a couple of hours to go! Strange inner gurgglings are causing me some concern. Possibly, nerves, maybe excitement, but most likely last nights curry! Is everyone who is not going to the match, watching the game on TV? Is there anyone who is relying on the BBS for progress reports??

HOWAY THE LADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2000

HI Galaxy, I'm in Australia and have no radio or T.V coverage & I havn't found any net broardcasts yet, so I'm relying on bbs.

-- Anonymous, April 09, 2000

I'm in a quandry.

Go to a local (i.e. Newcastle) opub and watch the match in a crowded bar with a poor view of the screen. Also, I have no money for beer :-(

Or, listen to it on the radio, logged onto the BBS and catch the highlights later. But, I feel as though I will be missing something.

Decisions, decisions...

Deb - I`ll do my best (I will at least post the goals) - about to open a bottle of wine, but hopefully I will still be able to stagger through! HOWAY THE LADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (:O)
