Can digital camera AVI movies be emailed?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

With the new Fuji 4700z coming out, I saw it has the capability of recording AVI jpeg movies for up to 90 seconds with sound. Is there a way to download a recorded movie with sound to my computer and then be able to email that movie with sound to someone? (like a Happy Birthday message for example). If yes, what other things do I or the receiver need to be able to do this? Thanks for any responses.

sure. my sony 505 makes mpegs, kind of framey and unimpressive but the sound is good. (I really wish I could record sound only with this, would be fantastic feature). The feature is good for an occasional gimmick but if you're big on video get a dedicated digital video camera instead.

Donald:
Some MPEG and most AVI movies tend to be very large. A good alternative is to send transcoded movies using a product like Real- Publisher, Vivo, etc. They can be a bit pricey - but if you think you will send a fair amount then you should consider one of these. Real Publisher will create Real Streaming Media from your AVI or MPEG movies, and dessimate them to less than 1/4 of the original size. Sure, it does it by reducing resolution even more, but it's still OK. The other advantage shows up when you place the movie on a web site - it will begin playing immediately rather than having to download first.
Check out:
Vivo Video
Real Video

Both of these do require that the viewer have the appropriate player (Vivo Player for Vivo, Real Player for Real) - but there are free versions for both.
