You'll have to use additional software such as Altimera's Genuine Fractals (a plug in for Photoshop).

GF uses fractals to allow resizing of images whilst keeping their file size at a minimum. This will enlarge an image without the pixelation that you would get just by printing.

They have a demo that you can download from their web-site (although you will need PhotoShop to use it) but it is limited to file sizes of 8MB or less.

If you were to simply use photoshop's image size feature you would end up with an huge file (ie at 250 Pixels per Inch = approx 250MB)

with the exception of a leaf scanning back on a view or medium format camera there are few digital products that will produce a file size large enough for a 30 to 40" print. It is hard enough to get a good print that size from a 35 mm negative or slide and even the most expensive digital camera only produces about 20% of the detail available from a good scan of a 35mm negative or slide. Although genuine fractals will produce an image with smooth transitions, it cannot provide any more detail than was in the original file. Image quality is in the eye of the beholder and this being said, for your own purposes you may get a perfectly acceptable 30X40 print from your digital camera, however for my taste, I know that the 28Mbyte scans from my film scanner need a fair amount of work before they can be made into a print that size. original file. I think
