What happened to Jim? Lutie leaves and Jim is where? Did he and his girlfriend get together? Did he move away? Where did he go and he never bothers to see his kid?!?

Answers

I think that Jim is in the same town, but both him and Lutie are discouraged from seeing each other. It does, however, come to my surprise that Bub never even mentions his father and I think that the author does this on purpose. She is trying to show that Lutie is a strong woman able to care for her child on her own and without the help of Jim. Maybe she is hiding from him too? Maybe she doesn't want Jim to have anything to do with Bub?
