What was Romano wearing?

When Romano and Corday were getting ready to put the filter in Lucy to catch her clots, why was he wearing that gray apron? It looked to me like something you'd wear to protect against X-rays...and why wasn't Corday wearing one?

I never could figure out why he wears a cape.

Does he think he's Superman?

Angiography makes extensive use of x-rays to visualize the placement of catheters and such; Greenfield filters, implanted in the vena cava, are guided using radiographic imaging techniques. Since Romano was going to do the implantation, he was wearing a lead apron to protect himself from the radiation. It's pretty standard garb for radiologists and anyone who spends any time in a catheterization lab.

As for why Corday wasn't wearing one, I can only conclude that she hadn't put it on yet.

who (or what)ever he is, I wish he would just go away.

You know, at one point I wanted Romano to leave too but over the past season or so he's grown on me a bit. Yes, he's still an arrogant little...guy...but he's also added some flame and humor to the show. The bits about his dog having surgery and the comment he made about his Mother's Day plans on one epi made him more human. When Lucy wanted his help with the transplant patient, he did his best to come through for her. I think he'd established a respect for Lucy when that happened that showed when he turned over the cart after she died. Sure he made a stupid comment to her about putting too much into her career to lose her then, but he knew that she knew that was just a Romano comment. Regarding humor, I laughed out loud when he asked Elizabeth ("Lizzie") how much she'd pay for his sperm and saw a very human side when he sneaked his dog a biscuit after the OR nurse took the first one away from him. Regarding flame, I wanted to "throttle" (to use Carter's term that he said to Lucy) Romano when he made the ER a horrible place to work, changing the phone system, playing Kerry against Mark, Peter against Elizabeth. I've worked under similarly bad conditions and hated them showing up on ER. But they sure made things interesting. I'm saying that, while Romano can be such a pain, the character has also served a purpose and spiced up things a bit. I'm hoping we see more of his personal side in the future.

I agree that Romano is an ass, that he spices things up, he is an major bullet head, and he can be funny. How he interacts with Nurse Shirley and her mocking him is incredibly funny, and his dog was great. I have and still do wish that he would just go away and die somewhere. He does add to the show, but I just do not like him at all.
