Francis, At least to provide you with a response, I regret that I am unable to help you other than to provide you with an excellent source for material on Edgar Allan Poe. You may wish to try the EAP Society of Baltimore website at http://www.eapoe.org/ for information. As for Cooper, you may wish to try the site at

To be truthful, I have a long time affection for the works of E. A. Poe but little tolerance for Cooper's works. "The Last of the Mohicans" and "The Pioneers" were interesting but do not stir the passion for reading that I find in Poe's works. They were contemporaries and I believe that Poe wrote a couple of critiques of Cooper's works but I do not recall which ones. Perhaps one of the most interesting commentaries I have ever read was by Mark Twain regarding his distaste for Cooper's books. Also, Cooper once wrote a book that offended many Americans and upon his return from Europe to America, he found he was not very welcome in New York. He left there and moved to Cooperstown, NY, a town established by his Father.

Good Luck
