Seems the Softie lookalike is involved in a new venture. This is from the Chronicle:

GLOBE-trotting football star Warren Barton is mixing business with pleasure by setting up a travel company. The Newcastle United defender's new firm will specialise in trips for professional sports people and busy executives. Gibbon & Barton, based at Armstrong House in Washington, is aiming to provide a personal travel service for sportsmen and women from the North East. The 31-year-old full back is expanding his business interests in partnership with North East football coach Mark Gibbon and company director Rob Tait. Cosmopolitan Barton, the country's most expensive defender when he signed for Newcastle from Wimbledon back in 1995 for #4 million, is renowned for his trips abroad and has been nicknamed Phileas Fogg by team mates. He tied the knot with wife Cindy in the romantic Cayman Islands in the Caribbean. They then popped across to Hong Kong for their honeymoon. The year after he signed with the Magpies, Barton took in Rome, then San Francisco, Los Angeles and finally Cancun, in Mexico, before arriving back in the North East just in time to go on United's tour of Thailand, Singapore and Japan. Former England international Barton said: "When you are a player who only has a limited time in which to take holidays, I realised there was a gap in the market for such a specialised service. We hope to provide a top-to-toe service for sports personalities and businessmen and women who not only want a personal touch when booking their holiday but competitive rates." Barton is enlisting the help of Magpies team mates Alan Shearer and Rob Lee to officially open his travel company tomorrow. Its launch is being held at Durham County Cricket Club. Coaching Mr Tait, company director for Gibbon & Barton, said: "I think having Warren involved gives us an insight as to what professional footballers are looking for in terms of service. We are aimed at a specific area and tailor our service accordingly. "Because we are dealing with relatively few clients, we can devote that much more time to each inquiry." Gibbon & Barton will also organise coaching sessions with youth teams from around the world.

"Gibbon and Barton" - for a minute there I thought he was going into partnership with Peter Reid :-)

Perfect for the nouveau riche, Barton tells them how exclusive it is and gives them the price, and Monkey Heed says, "F*ckin' 'eck! You can't be serious about spending that on a fuc*in' 'oliday. What's wrong with Lanzarote? You've f*kin' got to be f*kin' joking! F*ck!"

The client then leaves feeling pampered, profligate and pretty sure they won't be mixing with the Heeds of this world. Can't fail really.
