what is a digital camera

Can you tell me about the history and the layout of the digital camera i do not want to know about any of the prices thank you.

a digital camera has the same concept as a film based camera. It still uses a lens, has a iris, shutter, etc... just think of it this way... instead of using film to capture the image, there is a ccd (charged coupled device) that takes the place of where the film usually goes, and saves it electronically into another some kind of electronic medium (floppy, compact flash, etc.)
