I just bought my first camera ever, an Olympus D-340L. I then purchased a SanDisk USB version ImageMate Flash Card Reader; unfortunately, my Olympus only uses SmartMedia cards. Is there a "converter" that I can purchase that will allow my ImageMate to read my SmartMedia cards?

No there is not, you must I'm afraid go and ask for your money back or an exchange on the imagemate :(

They make some adapters for Flash to PC Card, perhaps others.
