A Seven Day Women's Creativity Retreat: Exploring the Polaroid Transfer
May 8 - 14, 2000. Mother Tree Retreat Center, Sebastopol, CA
We invite you to join us in a retreat for a small group of women to gather together to deepen our creative explorations with the Polaroid Transfer process. We designed this retreat primarily for women with previous experience with Polaroid transfers. We intend to hold the space for sacred soul time, allowing for the gestation of new projects, planned or yet unknown, to develop and unfold within a spectacular retreat setting and in an environment of:
- exploring nature with the camera
- poetry & journal writing
- meditation & gentle movement
- healthy delicious gourmet meals
- circles of sharing & ritual
- hot tub & massage
As artists and photographers we often work alone or solo. In this setting we offer an opportunity for creative support and community to emerge among the women attending. Allowing space for our artistic, emotional and intuitive worlds to cross pollinate, co-create and inspire ourselves and each other, choices can be made to work with the following areas: studio time & demonstrations of creative techniques including:
- large format 4x5 & 8x10 film
- advanced image & emulsion transfer techniques
- using alternate surfaces
- SX-70 manipulaions
- creating handmade books
Tuition including room and board is $1200 + a $150 materials fee. Class size is limited to 12. To register, send a $300 deposit to Kathleen Carr, PO Box 723, Graton, CA 95444 with your name, address, phone and email to hold your space. The balance is due by April 6th, 2000. If you haven't studied with Kathleen or Cynthia, please send a bio and 12-15 slide copies or color copies of your work with your registration (they will be returned). Additional information will be sent with your confirmation letter.
