Corel Phote House vs Adobe Photodeluxe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have an IBM notebook computer that came with Corel Photo House and I recently purchased an Olympus C2020Z digital camera that came with Adobe Photodeluxe Home Edition. Is one of these packages superior to the other for photo image manipulation. I would prefer to not spend the time learning to use both. I'm not interested in special effects, but in cropping, resizing, some minor corrections (like brightness, red eye, etc.), changing resolution for email attachments, and printing. Right now I am pretty ignorant of these things.

Richard: I just spent a lot of time with a real knowledeable salesman/Tech rep at a large pro-photoshop. Not being knowledeable myself, one of my questions to him was about getting a good, yet simple photo manipulation program. The Adobe photoshop Delux was one that he recommended as being inexpensive, simple to use with an intuitive style to its operation. Another benefit he mentioned was that should you someday get serious, some of the techniques in the delux version is similar but more complex in the fuller versions of PhotoShop. Hopefully when I get my (soon to be purchased) digital camera, it will have that program!! G
