What is the status of deregulation in the UK as of date? Are you all paying for your telephone through some humongous monolith of a telcom company? Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

BT the main telco here will offer free (er humm) calls for their subscribers. Two counties already have this system, but the rest of the UK should be up and running by the summer. Alta Vista is also offering the system from this month for #10 as is NTL the cable operator. Existing customers only pay #9.95 for 10 TV channels, telephone, answering and other services and unlimited free telephone and internet access lovcally. Anyone can join even if you don't have cable, but you will still need to use minimus #10 of calls per month.
