I won't mond if e win as comprehensively as Villa. What happened to Bolton? How many did they miss and how may were saved? Did wor Robbie play/score/miss? Sorry I've just been watching the penalties on Sky internet!

Thanks for answering my question before it was even asked. That's the problem with no time, the last post was at the same time as Bud's honest!

I don't mind us playing Villa in the Final; they've only got Merson and Dublin (if he's fully fit, sub. again today), Joachim and Carbone (I think he's about to fall out with his team mates, 'cos of his contract + he was subbed and not v. happy about it!) were $hite. James was good and dodgy (par for his course!).

Notlob had a good few chances which wor strikers would have put away, nee bothers!

Must admit that I didn`t think Aston Villa looked too special - though I did feel decidedly queasy at the thought of going through all this next week! I think I will die if it goes to penalties.

Aiieeee...my nerves are fully in gear for next week now. We have to win in normal time. I can't take the stress of penalties! Noooooooooo! I flip flopped between supporting Bolton and Villa the whole game. I wanted Bolton to win a bit more just cause they looked so easy to turn over. But then Villa will give us a better game. Most of regular time was dreary today. At half time I was talking to the pub owner and said this game had penalties written all over it if the first half was anything to go by. Nobody could understand why Carbone was subbed. A few lads were baying for Joachim to be pulled off most of the game. By the second half of extra time I think even the Villa fans(just about everyone in the pub) just wanted anyone to score. Still it made for an exciting 15min. Too bad James had to remember he's a goalkeeper during penalties. ;-) By that point Bolton had worked so hard, and Villa were more crap than they should have been, I was really hoping Bolton would win. Oh well.

I'll just go off and start being incredibly nervous for the next 7 days now. eek! :-)

Bolton's Holdsworth struck a post with a cracking free-kick and then blazed over from around the penalty spot after some lovely work by Guidjohnsen (spelling? Icelander - looks a useful player).

Fat Ron summed it up perfectly at that point by saying something like you just get that feeling that Holdsworth is going to look back at that miss, and realise it was THE critical moment in the game. And so it proved. Thank God Southgate didn't need to take a penalty!

Like others, I was watching but really getting the shivers thinking about the possibility of a penalty shoot out next Sunday. I'm 0 for 5 at Wembley, and that's more than I could realistically deal with - unless we won of course!

I fell asleep watching it. Woke up halfway thru extra time. SOunds like I saw the best part! I'd prefer not to go to penalties, but I'd take the win if that's how we have to do it. Let's hope YBR has them doon the school yard aiming at them circles on the air-raid shelter wall!

Bobby was enquiring about Eidur Gudjonsson earlier in the season, hope he got some positive feedback, the guy turns the way nobody has since Shearer got hurt. Frightening.

I think Joachim stayed on because he DID miss so many chances; he was getting in all the right places whilst Carbone never looked involved. His passing was creating chances, but that was Merson's job, small wonder Gregory fancied another scorer on the pitch.

Quite enjoyed Holdsworth's woes, anyone who cheats on a woman like his missus deserves everything he gets (although I might have to tell her some home truths about her singing voice).

Gudjonsen did look quite good today. Wouldn't mind seeing him in black and white next season if the price is right.

We had Martin Tyler doing commentary, and when Holdsworth missed he said that if Bolton went on to lose the game that was one of those nightmare moments that would haunt him forever.

First time I've seen Eidur Gudjonsson play (apart from previous highlights / goals) quite impressed, he'd do very well with / for the right partner - hint YBR ;-)

+ he's only 21, if notloB don't get promoted (unlikely) I'm sure the big clubs (that should include NUFC) will be after him.

YBR knows all there is to know about Gudjonsen(sp?) cos he had him at PSV up front with Ronaldo...

TeamTwaddle are linking the toon with Gudjohnson, saying we had scouts watching the player. Previously when we were linked to him the price was around 5 million quid.

Yeah, I saw that but just presumed it had something to do with the fact that we'd be playing the winners in the Final and it was more of a opposition scouting mission rather than scouting for one player in particular. Which is why I didn't add it to the Gallowgate's news page.
