I want to be able to do 8x10 prints from my camera and would like any suggestions as to what camera to buy for $600.00 and under.

You have many choices. IT depends on your criteria. I will give a quick opinion dump. I have compared several for some time.

Best OVerall Pics Most of the time: Get the Kodak 280 You will loose some more advanced features (such as shutter priority or full manual control) and it only has a 2X zoom.

Small and pocketable: Get the Canon S10. YOu can take it anywhere. It only has a 2x zoom and colors are not quite up to Kodaks.

Full Control with 3X zoom: Get Olympus 2020, Nikon 950, or Casio QV2000. Casio and Nikon can be obtained for less money. Olympus is the smallest. All have 3X zoom, 2MP, and offer many great control features. In my opinion, none quite match the Kodak for color. OF these, I reccomend the Olympus on image quality. The Casio is probably the best for overall features.

I have printed 8x10's which look good. Most people will not be able to tell its from a digicam on a casual view of the photo. Close inspection will tell.
