What is ER's filming schedule?

Does anyone know the schedule for when the episodes are actually filmed? I mean, when do they start filming a new season and when do they finish it? Thanks!

I don't know for sure, but I think the episodes are only filmed a couple of weeks in advance of when they are aired.

I don't know about the filming schedule, but I read that the Fall Season on NBC won't begin until Oct. because of the Winter Olympics. So, there won't be a new ER until Oct. 5..or close to it.

The winter olympics aren't until 2002.

Cai, I think Carin means the summer Olympics.

As for their productions schedule, they work from late July (though they don't actually start filming till August) through late April.

And its about 3-4 weeks between when an episode is filmed and when its aired.

The episodes are filmed 4-6 weeks in advance. If you saw the Rosie O'Donnell show when she visited the ER set, I'm pretty sure that they were taping "Under Control" at that time. Hints were that Eriq LaSalle showed Rosie that the morgue was just built for a particular scene (Abby's scene in the morgue with her patient who died because of her mistake), Noah Wyle wearing the same clothes in the eppy when he was watching Michael Michele and Rosie play basketball, Dr. Chen wearing the same clothes in the episode also, and finally when Rosie asked the person who plays Dr. Corday's mother what she was doing next and she said she was going back to NY (in the eppy she goes back to London). I think they start filming in august and they should be finished by the end of april.

As for Noah's short hair, I don't think it was for the movie,"Fail Safe", because the movie will be shown live. As I mention above, each eppy are filmed 4-6 weeks in advance which means he cut his hair sometime in the beginning of march. But the movie is still a month away and by that time his hair would grow back. Also if you guys saw the interview of Noah Wyle & George Clooney for their movie on ET and Access Hollywood, Noah had his hair long as it used to be.

Just to make sure, isn't Fail Safe airing live April 9th? A few people have been saying that it is a month away, but actually it is only a week away, if the date is true.

You're right, Elaine. Fail Safe will be on CBS on Sunday, April 9th at 8 CST.

So if it's April 9th 8 CST, would that mean its on at seven here on the East Coast (EST)? I'm not gonna be home, I need to tape it!

That would be 9 EST. Hope you get it.

I meant the Summer Olympics--they're in Sydney, Australia and the seasons are different. Either way I don't want to have to wait until Oct. for a new ER--now I know what NYPD Blue fans felt like.

All I know is that where I live I don't think we will actually be seeing it live (we didn't see the ER epi live either). We don't switch to Daylight savings time so the Fail Safe will be on at 8 our time, but the local affiliate is still advertising at being on at 9. So I will have to pretend that I am seeing it live I guess!

I might be wrong, but I think I heard it this way on TV. Everyone in CST and EST will see it live. The west coast will see a taped version. Guess they don't want to/can't do a back-to-back like they did on ER a while back.
