Title: Army blames copter crash on faulty part

Army investigators believe engine failure caused the crash of the Bell helicopter that killed 11 senior officers and crew in Kanchanaburi last month.

The manufacturer's representatives have taken a suspect part back to the US for examination.

Initially, it was being assumed that a warning signal that the engine revolutions had dropped too low had not worked, an army source said.

"If the warning light did not show, the pilot would not be aware of the engine's condition," the source said.

Bell technicians had taken the warning instrument back to the US on March 9 for further checks.
