NEWCASTLE BATTLING FOR MARIC'S PERMIT Newcastle United have entered negotiations with employment chiefs in a bid to safeguard their investment in Croatian misfit Silvio Maric. It is understood the club is in touch with the Department for Education and Employment as they face the prospect of seeing the midfielder refused a new work permit after failing to make his mark in the Premiership. Maric, signed from Croatia Zagreb for #3.

As I understand it, if Sylia loses his work permit we still have to pay his full wages for the duration of his Contract. The reality of this situation is that we will be compelled to virtually give him away - assuming, of course, anyone wants him.

I have a feeling this guy is another who's form is inversely proportional to his bank balance.

Nice work if you can get it - even better than being a politician.

.....signed from Croatia Zagreb for three quid (sorry, don't have a pound sign on this keyboard). Maybe we could sell him for a tenner, triple our money and save thousands on his wages. Give him away, cut losses, unless Bobby has some magic left in his wand.

If I was YBR I would: 1) Smack Maric in the mouth 2) Kick Maric up the arse 3) Shout "Maric For F*C%in H#lls sake Man!!" 4) Say "Ruud - what a T*ssa" 5) Use all my world contacts to sell the SOB.

If only he did cost #3, I would chip in if that was the case.
