Bank apologises for not paying customers

St George Bank has apologised to thousands of customers whose accounts have not been credited with pensions, salaries and other payments.

The bank has cited a problem with its central computer and the direct entry system.

It is not known how many people have been affected.

Testing of the system should be completed shortly and accounts should have been credited with payments by mid-afternoon.

It says any fees incurred due to the fault will be corrected.
