450 zoom (c-920 zoom) or c-1400

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am about to purchase a digital camera and had decided on an Olympus 450 zoom (c-920 zoom in UK), but I have just been offered a second hand Olympus c-1400 which has been factory upgraded to 32mb. Disregarding price, which is my best option.

Many thanks

Colin.

Colin,

I don't know if this will help you, but Olympus is soon to release the D-460 Zoom here in the United States. It will be an improvement of the D-450 including magnesium battery support, which should last 30 times longer than alkalines, new controls, buttons, easier-to-use menus, more compression modes, etc. www.epc-online.com said they are ready to ship beginning today, don't know if this is valid or not, but we can assume it's on its way. Same price as D-450, comes with those new batteries too.

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the c-1400, what model is that here in the US?

I was interested in the D-450, almost bought it, and found out about the new model and decided to hold out for a few more weeks. Am waiting for it to appear in retail stores here in the US before I purchase for the sake of warranty.

Hope this helps.
