New Wembley alienating the ordinary folks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I notice that the new Wembley is devoting a significant amount of sapce to corporate seating, so next time we are in Div 1 and in the playoffs some seats will be empty at the same time as thousands of fans can't get tickets.

Any thoughts?

My response is "Bollocks!"

So much for the new "national" stadium.

"...next time we're in Div.1"!!!! Haway man Lee - it's bad enough dealing with Dougal's bloody pessimism about the FAC SF without contemplating relgation as well. Anyway, I'm supposed to be the pessimist around here!

Live with mag underachievement for forty years and you have to be pessimistic to stay sane.

You shouldn't really be surprised that the new Wemberly will be aimed at the suits. The writing is all over every wall in the land - 'they'd' be over the moon if they could get their hands on our cash without having to suffer the indignity of having to cater for as few of our needs as they can get away with.

The day won't be long coming when part of the suits' 'entertainment' at a match will be watching the antics of the token sample of erks allowed in for just that purpose.

No different to today then. Wembley capacity 80000 at the moment. Chelsea 34000, Newcastle 34000, corporates 12000.... and that's just for a semi-final!
