I can't get this VCD to play, can someone help?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I recently puchased a Hong Kong made VCD and it is what I have come to know as a white book format or version 2.0. I can't find anything to play it for my PC. I know you have covered the CDI format, but I have learned the old Green Book file system does not work on PC, that you must have a player to play these CDs. But I know nothing about the White Book format, should I buy an adapter for my playstation, or is there a program that I can download, or have I been ripped off?

Your first step is to download the standard current Windows Media player: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp Some of its resources are used by the following, which is your real interest: http://www.fwnetwork.com/description/quickvcd.html The latter, when it unzips, goes (by default) into the C:\Program Files\QuickVCD Player v3.0 directory, and from there one need only copy a shortcut of the icon to one's desktop (screen background area shown when all windows are closed, showing the various program icons), and then a mere click on this will make any VCD immediately playable.

I don't have a Mac and so can't experiment with the one for the Mac, but my information about it and the above all came from: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/2496/vcdfaq.html That should give you all you need to view the disc. Bon appetite!
