Here is the URL of a great poultry auction site. http://www.poultryconnection.com/cgi-bin/auction.cgi?heggsphs You could email the breeder and see if they would be interested in a trade. Good luck.

This could be as good as a seed swap! I mentioned in the "Guineas - pro or con" thread that I got my guineas "free" because a friend sent some eggs that we incubated. I'm not looking for anything in particular, and I have only separated a couple of breeds, but I'll have White Rock and Silver Spangled Hamburg fertile eggs I'd be happy to share in @ a month. Good luck!

Patty I have two Broad Breasted Bronze hens that are laying. At the moment I'm saving a few eggs to incubate myself but am willing to work out some thing in the near future. I've never shipped eggs before but what the heck, I'm willing to try....

Patty - not to worry! Jim - I have found that wrapping each egg in just enough newspaper to cover it and using styrofoam "peanuts" to separate them worked very well. Conversely, placing eggs in an egg carton and surrounding with peanuts produced liquid omelette. May only be the the gruntled vs. disgruntled postal types, but that's what happened for me. And if anyone has spare pheasant eggs, particularly golden or amherst, but any really, I'll trade for chicken eggs, heirloom tomato seeds, recipes, or maybe even live lobsters. (Lobsters aren't THAT expensive, but shipping is - I'd need a bunch of eggs for a straight trade). If anyone is interested in this swap idea, besides the very few of us so far - jump in! Might be fun! Good luck!

Brad;

Would you be interested in a swap for some Guineas? You know about the turkeys, I have Rohde Island Reds and my brother has a couple of different types of quail (Not sure what type but will post soon as I find out). I might be able to get Pheasant eggs but not sure yet (still working a trade).

Let me know, Anyone else have anything interesting?

Jim - As I may have mentioned on the thread re Guineas, I found them to be interesting, but not nearly enough to risk divorce. Quail would be fine, as we had Bobwhites a couple of years ago and they were fun. I didn't realize the necessity for a catch cage, and eventually they went wild, 'tho' we did see them for a while. I have been considering Coturnix Quail lately. Good luck!
