Main Coon and Parrot?

I have a Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, but I really want a cat, or maybe two. Would a Main Coon be overly curious about the bird? Or would it stalk it?

Curiosity should be part of the name; Maine (Curious) Coon but I think any breed of cat is going to be interested. It will take some work but if you start with kittens you shouldn't have a problem. The cockatoo by its size is capable of defending itself and will teach the kitten to respect it should there be a close encounter. I had a cat and a cockatiel and found this too be the case. The cockatiel is a lot smaller but still quite capable of teaching a kitten respect. I introduced them as soon as I got the kitten (NOT when the kitten was in a playful mood) and I monitored them closely until I was comfortable that they would be ok. I had the cockatiel nearly 12 years and never had a problem. Good Luck.

I have three cats (Mufaza, a maine coon; Jumanjee, a bengal and Pepper-O'nni, a dsh) and I have a quaker named Pepe. My cats are always very attentive of my parrot and Pepe is very attentive of them... Pepe has even learned to Meaow! Pepe is only about 5 or 6 inches high, but he is not afraid of anything. One day I came back from work and found him outside his cage, running after the cats (he never learned how to fly only glide)trying to bite them! I learned my lesson and after that I make sure the doors of the cage are securelly closed (I use paper clips) and I don't let him out unless I'm around, this prevents that either Pepe does serious damage to my cats or, that he ends up being "lunch". Unless you are committed to be very careful with both cats and bird, I would not recommend it.
