IVARS TEMPTATIONS

Ivar dislikes human habitations so he lives in a barn on Alexandras land. He says he is comfortable this way being near horses and further from temptation. However no one knows what these temptations are. What are these temptations of Ivar's?

I wondered about that too, at one point it almost sounded like he thought if he was too near Alexandra or others that he may hurt them in some way, but I think he just feels that people living close together and in and around each other's belongings face more temptations in general. There would just be more opportunities to do something harmful or dishonest. Of course, the people who say he is insane may actually be convincing him that he is a threat to others.

I think that the temptations that Ivar was talking about is posessions. Ivar is a very simple man with simple needs, he dosen't want to get carried away with material things. I didn't ever think that the temptation would be Alexandrea. That's why I always assumed that he was talking about material thing

I didn't really think about what Ivar's temptations were. But I don't think that it was Alexandra, otherwise he wouldn't have moved in with her knowing the danger. I think that Ivar is just simple and religious. He has his own beliefs and I think his temptations are other people because if he were around other people obviously they would try and change his beliefs. That's why I think he live's alone in the barn. No one bothers him and he can live the way he wants.

Ivar was a man of nature and chose to live of the land. He seemed that he was a religious man, and any temptation would be something not given from GOd. The land and its belongings were GOd's gifts. Anything more wasn't necessary and therefore deemed a temptation.
