-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Evening all. Bit apprehensive about tonights game. Would settle for a draw

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

10 minutes gone, after a very frantic start.....both teams starting to settle down to the game......

Thompson had the ball in the net in 7 SECONDS but ruled off side for a foul.

Dyer delivered a good free kick from the left just outside the penalty area but taken nicely by the 'Pool keeper.

Hamman tried a long drive but was high wide and handsome.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Delia's lot just gone 1 up against QPR next door to me here

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

How are we looking at the back? Please say something to give me confidence!

Jay

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Back three are fairly solid at the moment....doing what they need to do.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Evening Hiro. Where were you last week?

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

20 minutes.....nthing much happened since 10 minutes.

Newcastle free kick on the left again, but nothing came of it.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Bit of a late night . Didn't get the result til next morn which eased my hangover no end. Save by Givern from Heskey!!

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Shearer free kick ten yard outside the area to the right hammered straight into the wall and cleared to Camera but he was alone and got no where fast.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Any thoughts on Camara as our third forward? I mean Liverpool don't need him?

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

We seem to have most of the play at the moment.

Long may this continue

Jay

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

What's happening ITK, it sounds a bit dead.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Certainly getting more than our fair share...but a bit like last Sunday, the final penetration just slightly lacking.

Shearer and Ferguson not really getting the service yet. and what they are getting is going to waste a bit.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

The webcast is reasonable to-day. Toon Army are sounding fine! (:o)

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

What is the web cast URL?

Jay

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

you can get it get it from the official sitehere

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

ITK, any idea if this is going to be the main match on MOTD? Am I right in saying they have had one shot on target so far to our NONE?

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Jay, I called it up through the Official NUFC site by pressing the start broadcast button.

I've got Radio 5. Not as biased as usual.Uh.... got the Lincoln now. Horse racing!!!!

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

no you can't but try here maybe this will work

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

All pretty much bland at the moment.......end to end and lots of touch but nothing really happening.

Heskey has gone to the ground more often than a flash of lightening so far, but I think the referee is keeping a closer eye on him.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Can hear the Toon Army on Radio 5 ;o)

Dunc shouting at the ref

Jay

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Big Yin booked for elbowing Hyypia

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

They should go in hard and give them a good kicking. Paul Gurkin is the most lenient of Refs nd hasn't sent anyone off this season. If I were Lee I'd try to break Hammans legs.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Infact If I were Barton I'd try to break Bergers legs. He's marking him isn't he.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

If I were Goma I'd try to Break Cammaras skull.

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Goma booked for a foul on Pesky

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Goma booked, amid toon protest

Hamann just missed ;o)

Jay

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Durkin sounds lenient doesn't he? 2 bookings in 3 minutes???

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Mackems 1-1 ;o))))))

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

He really did deserve to be booked.....I don't know what all the protest was about.

FIRST HALF REPORT:

Not the greatest of matches thus far but has been pretty much end to end stuff. After almost going 1-0 down in the first seven seconds, the toon rallied and began to get themselves sorted out.

After a frantic first ten minutes, the game settled down and while the ball is being knocked around nicely by both teams, niether has really had a direct shot on goal.

Newcastle's three best chances came from free kicks, two from the left delivered reasonably well by Dyer but both cleared by the keeper. Probably the clearest attempt came from a Shearer free kick ten yards outside the poenalty area, jusy to the right of centre, but his shot was straight into the wall and cleared to camera who broke free but had no one with him and the attack came to nothing.

Liverpool's only two real chances came from Hamman, who is being booed everytime he goes near the ball, the first from 30 yards hit Rob lee and flew high wide and handsome and the second was a daisy cutter from 20 yards which Shay saved at stretch on the right post.

Both Ferguson and Goma were booked within the space of a coup0le of minutes, Ferguson for elbowing Hyphop and Goma for a foul on Pesky. A lot of the Toon players protested at the booking, but on several replays, it was clear the the booking was warrented.

Half time 0-0

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

DOn't you hate it when people claim to be you?

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

Kegsy Just checked out The Gallowgate. Looks good. What happens to the MSN now? Glass Orange!!!!.... OOhh EErr

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

I'm trying to get a forum which is better than MSN and also a chat which is as good. The first one is easy but I can't find a good free chat page. The gallowgate is better because I have control of everything and everyone can access it. No firewalls etc. And you can ghet email@thegallowgate.com Much better than hotmail

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

ITK I didn't see aa copyright niotice on that first half report. You do realise that Kegsy is gonna nick it for his Gallowgate site don't you?

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

When y webhost pulls their finger out I will, yes hence the reason I'll have a far superior forum to the MSN one why?

Beaten in the Semi - what have I missed? Or are we tempting fate but in a neagtive way?

-- Anonymous, March 25, 2000

The better team won the Semi-Final....as they will at Wembley....but why do I ALWAYS feel so sodding depressed when we lose at Anfield.

Not many teams go there and win....but why do we always go under to a bloody last minute goal.

Oi, whoever is trying to blame Barton, NOOOOO!!!!! He was at fault for the first insofar as his misplaced pass set up their attck, but Goma and Dabizas both missed tackles to let them score. For the second, Dabs miskicked and sliced the ball for a corner. From this, Rednapp headed hom ethanks to a sh*te Speed challenge.

The single most telling contribution to our defeat, however, came from that c*nt Durkin waving on THE most blatant penalty of all time. That's it from me, watch MotD if you like, but I'm too angry to bother anymore. Had that been at wor end of the ground, the twat would have given it - utterly ruled by the crowd; w*nker!!!!

Bartinho -- especially for Softie

Really fun crowd at the pub to watch today's match. Nonstop wisecracks from a couple of guys down front the whole game. About half way through the second half when Bartinho had put in yet another cross, one of the guys(a Liverpool supporter) said "What is this? The Warren Barton show?"

A few minutes later, after Barton had danced the ball around one of the Liverpool players, the same guy remarked, "Whoa! That's one sexy muthaf****r!"

Maybe it was because of the jovial crowd at the pub...about even mix of Liverpool and Newcastle supporters, or maybe I just expected us to lose(and hoped for at least a draw), or maybe it was the absence of YMO that took away the target of pure seething hatred ;-)), but I'm not all that upset about the result. Defensively both teams seemed about evenly matched. Liverpool had the slight edge in attack. Until Domi and Gallacher came on, we just didn't seem to have a clue going forward. It was frustrating to watch, and byt the time the second half kicked off I just wanted SOMEbody to score, figuring that would kick start both sides. As it did. Maybe I'm just happy because we got one more point than expected out of these last 2 games. Given the choice between 2 and 3, I'll take the 3, with a close loss at Anfield. It really could have gone either way today.

Sorry Softie.......I have to disagree, as a long standing defender of his I though WB was very poor today and that his positioning was dire.

He hit a couple of nice crosses, but that was about the level of it.

ITK

I agree that Warren had a stinker yesterday. His early crossing was poor, going straight to Van Westerveld and he was caught out by Camara repeatedly. Saying that, he improved markedly in the second half until giving the ball away to start the Liverpool move which led to their first. It still took two challenges going begging for them to score, so I think it would be unfair to point the finger at him for something three passes earlier. As for his failure to clear the ball on the line - are we suggesting that the man on the post should jump as the cross comes in to ensure that he can prevent the ball going in above him? That'll put paid to the daisy-cutters and balls to the side of him, won't it? Grossly unfair. He's there to make it as hard as possible for someone to sneak the ball beyond the keeper, not to suddenly grow by three feet. If you want to point fingers for that second goal then start with the ball sliced over a centre-half's (who will remain nameless to avoid accusations of bias) shoulder to give the corner away in the first place, Given's being caught in two minds and most importantly Gary Speed challenging Redknapp with his feet firmly on the ground. More of a cumulative balls-up, hence YBR coming on after the game to say "We've had a row" when he has been quite forthright about individual errors in the past.

The crap performers yesterday (in so far as anyone was bad - they mostly had mixed performances) were notably Barton, Speed, Dyer and Ferguson. YBR had the best performance, holding them to 0-0 (not our job to provide the entertainment away from home) and instantly switching when we conceded. Whilst I thought that it was unfair on Lee to be subbed for Gallacher when Speed was struggling to find a Newcastle player with any of his passes, the forward momentum was markedly improved with another player who runs and passes in the right direction. Small wonder that Dyer improved with a running-mate since Shearer and Ferguson were largely immobile until the last 20 mins. Al really put himself about towards the end and chased some 'lost causes' to good effect.

Have you any idea why MotD didn't feel that the blatant penalty Durkin ignored was worth sharing with the nation? What about Heskey's extraordinary gravitational difficulties? He managed to get Goma booked for a fair challenge which came on the back of 2 Liverpool fouls which went unnoticed and provoked a serious reaction from 5 of our players. That Mark Poogash needs to be shot. One of the worst commentaries we have ever had to endure. He was SO biased it was embarrassing.

SOFTIE:

OK, I'll concede defeat on the first goal....he shouldn't and can't be held responsible for something that happened three moves before the goal was scored, but as far as the second is concerned I will not be moved.

On the few occassions when I played right back (no not right back in the dressing room) I was always told, when you are defending a corner at the near post, you stand your ground for the flick on, but when you are defending a corner at the back post, as soon as the ball is played in, take a step to a steo and a half to your left....the keeper should have gone to claim the ball, and yu are primarilty taking his place. If WB had done that yesterday, Redknapp's header would have been straight at him.

As far as MOTD not featuring the blatant penalty against Big Yin was concerned I have no Idea why they didn't show it.....It was certainly being discussed in the sports area yestreday afternoon and in the club before the programme was taped last night,

>>>>>What about Heskey's extraordinary gravitational difficulties? He managed to get Goma booked for a fair challenge which came on the back of 2 Liverpool fouls which went unnoticed and provoked a serious reaction from 5 of our players<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Very true,

>>>>>>>>That Mark Poogash needs to be shot. One of the worst commentaries we have ever had to endure. He was SO biased it was embarrassing<<<<<<<<. Don't start me on that one.....not with Mark Lawrenson and Alan Green fresh in the mind. B@ST@RDS
