KODAK PAN X 125 ASA FILM

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Has anyone used this film? I'm being given 400' of the stuff which has been stored in a freezer. Any thoughts on how good the film is? Contrast? Resolution? Highlights and shadow effects? Any thoughts on this somewhat older style film? Thanks......David Strachan

Unless there was a change, I thought that Pan X referred to Panatomic X, the fine grain film that was rated about 32 ASA. Plus X is a ASA 125 film. I think they quit making Panatomic some time ago, which may be the reason for the cold storage.

I would guess that if you give it good exposure for the shadows and test a couple of rolls to get the development for the highlights, you ought to be OK.

If there's no mistake with the ISO rating or name of this film, it's likely that this is motion picture stock, especially as it's in a 400' length. It's useable, but your on your own as far as developing technique is concerned.
