If 695 is unconstitutional, why isn't the MVET reinstated?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

The judge has ruled that the 695 initiative is flawed and unconstitutional. Why did he not throw out the 30$ license fee and reinstate the MVET tax? He passed the buck to someone else. This does not make any sense. Unless there are political motivations behind the ruling. We the people, overwhelmingly, voted for this tax cut and we knnew exactly what we were getting. Now olympia wants to give us the 30$ license fee and then later on down the road, raise all the other taxes to make up for the loss. We know this routine. I hope the next two initiative pass. We have voted and sent a clear message to our elected officials: NO new taxes. I guess we will have to vote in November to see who is on the people side.

Read the judge's decision (novel concept), it tells you why. Whether or not you believe him is your choice, but an answer is there.

It's also been discussed at length in previous threads. I'm not sure why you're bringing it up again as a new question unless you have other motivations behind it.
