Any ideas anyone? For some bizarre reason I've been thinking along the lines of winning some competition or other in it's inaugral (sp?) year but I don't think that's right....any help would be mucho appreciatedo...

Once you have done it you can not do it again. > Villa did at the first attempt. > Man Utd did it in 1992 > Chelsea did it in 1970. > Other clubs include Spurs, Wolves and Manchester City. > Leeds have not done it, neither have West Ham or Newcastle. > Nobody can do it this season.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....
Not here as well - can't escape this bloody question (it's been the curse from the Londonmags mailing list this past week)

Win your first FA Cup final replay. From now on the final is decided by pens.

I thought it was winning a trophy the first time it was available, although I couldn't complete this for all ...

Villa, League Cup 1961 Man U, Premiership 1992 Chelsea, won the first ever replayed Wembley FA Cup final (tenuous) Wolves were first to win Texaco cup (sad that I know that) Spurs could be some dodgy reference to winning "EUFA" Cup instead of "Fairs" Cup or "Inter-Cities" Man City is a struggle but it could be Watney Cup, or Anglo Italian or Cheshire Junior Cup or the like Why specifically Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle I don't know.

Winning all three cups - but not necessarily in the same year.

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2000

Geordie - can't be the FA Cup on a replay - Villa won the League Cup on 1961.

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2000

What's 1961 got to do with the question?

FA Cup semi-final replays? Cup Winners Cup?

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2000

win the title for the First time?? Manure did it in 92!

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2000

Can't be the FA Cup as Spurst beat Leicester 2-0 in 61 to win the double.

Geordie, 1961 is the first part of the question Gav missed off - this question hit my inbox at the end of last week and has annoyed the @rse off me since......
I reckon it's got to be along the lines of the "what goes up at half- time ....and isn't taken down until....Etc...etc.." which was just someone playing the co.uk

Scratchy,

Can you post the full question please?

Tenous but someone asked if it could possibly be this, I don't know if the facts or figures are correct and then have no idea what would make this act unique so that it cannot be repeated...

Chelsea were runners up in the 1967 FA cup final. Their manager started that year. He went on to win it in 1970.

Man United were Runners up in 86 the first full year of Ferguson. Won it in 1992.

Aston Villa won the FA cup the first year they entered.

Veneables joined Tottenham in 87 and were runners up in the FA. He then won it in 1991.

As I said tenous....in fact I'm almost certain it's bollox! I'm just hoping that it might start people off thinking a little....

HOW ABOUT??

Everyone who's received this questions asks the person who sent it to them where they got it from, lets track the b*****d back to its source and then if it turns out to be a hoax then we make the hoaxer accountable for his actions in all the best ways.....very politcally incorrect but I don't give a shit!

winning all 3 domestic cups is the right answer - not in the same season but at some point.

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2000

So why can you only do it once?

-- Anonymous, March 24, 2000

I got the same answer on another site, winning all the domestic trophies for the first time. But I didn't understand the'once' part. Mebbes it's that you can only win them the first time, once. But I don't understand

I too hd half my oraffice looking at this and some blerk is on divorce precedings if he doesn't supply and answer by Monday. Appaarently the Readers Digesy ground to a halt about a week ago trying to figure this out.

My opinion is that the question is F**k*d and that Leeds have done it. The answer is that the years in question signify the year the clubs completed the domestic treble by winning the cup required to complete the set. That would put Leeds in with '72.

1961 - League cup for the first time 1970 - Chelsea already won League cup finally win the FA cup 1992 - MunUre win Rumblows / Milk/ Coke/ Worthy's / what ever cup.

Toon ain't won the league cup not Wham! as they ain't won the Championship.

That's my answer and i suspect others (Wendy is that what you mean?)

Yep - that's exactly what I meant but I had to dash and didn't have time to explain it fully.

From Football unlimited:
Q "Once you have done it, you can never do it again. Aston Villa did it at their first attempt, Chelsea did it in 1970 and Manchester United did it in 1992 - other teams include Spurs, Wolves and Man City. Leeds have never done it, nor have West Ham or Newcastle. No- one can do it this season. Any ideas?" asks the world and his wife A This question is about clubs completing their set of all three major domestic trophies - league championship, FA Cup and League Cup. Aston Villa were the first winners of the League Cup in 1961, and, having already won both the First Division and FA Cup in their history, became the first team to have all three major domestic pots on their roll of honour. Manchester United had to wait until 1992 to complete their full set, beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 to win the Rumbelows Cup. Chelsea had already won the league's two premier competitions when they lifted the FA Cup in 1970 at the expense of a knackered Leeds United. Spurs, Wolves and Manchester City have also won all three trophies - the other clubs not mentioned in the question who have achieved this monumental feat are West Brom, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Arsenal, Sheffield Wednesday... and Leeds, who won it in 1968. Have you spotted the factual mistake which probably threw you off the scent? Spot on Tynedale man with regards to the question!
