Man accused of assaulting census enumerator RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - A Wind River Indian Reservation man has been charged in tribal court with simple assault of a census enumerator, according to police. The unidentified man "inappropriately touched or grabbed a female census worker" on Friday, Wind River Police Chief Larry Makeshine said.

Casper census office manager Dave Westling said it was the first "human-on-human" incident reported during Wyoming's census effort.

"Fortunately, our enumerator was not injured, and she was scheduled to go back to work," he said.

Four dog attacks on census workers, including two in Fremont County, have been also been reported since door-to-door counting began earlier this month.

"The most serious incident occurred in Dubois, where one of our workers received a head laceration and a hand injury," he said. "Another worker had a run-in with a dog south of Riverton but was not injured."

"We tell all our workers that their safety is foremost," he said. "If a situation looks dangerous, they're to leave and report it, and we'll contact the homeowner some other way.

"All of the incidents so far have been surprises. The workers didn't know the attack was coming."
