Nikon: CP 990 and EH-30

Is the Coolpix 990 compatible with the Nikon EH-30 external power supply?

I've noticed Nikon specs list an EH-31 as the external power source. I already have an EH-30 and have pre-ordered a 990, I'm trying to get my accessories in a row for the big arrival day!

Thanks again! -Mark-

Okay-here is the answer.

Officially-no. You cannot use the EH-30 with the 990 as it will produce higher levels of EMF (electro-magnetic fields). However-use of the EH-30 will not cause damage to the camera but may impede the camera from meeting the FCC inteference standards and therefore we cannot publicly endorse it's use and therefore encourage you to buy the EH-31. With that said-it is your decision.

The only technical issue I could see is if there is excess EMF from the EH-30 when used with the 990 it _could_ cause picture quality issues...
