JAMALPUR, Mar 21 (UNB): At least 15 people were injured in panic jumping as a coach of mail train derailed after colliding with another at Jamalpur station early on Tuesday.

Rail communications on the route remained disrupted for eight hours following the train accident, official sources said.

Witnesses said one bogie of the Uttarbanga Mail got off the tracks as it hit another trian, Dhaka-bound inter-city Jamuna Express, from behind at about 4.50 AM.

While panic -stricken passengers tried to jump out the train, at least 15 of them got hurt. They all were released after first aid.

The train communications, however, resumed at noon after salvage of the bogie by a rescue train from Mymensingh.
