"Roughly twice the size of Deleware"

Wow! Looks impressive. I wonder if there will be continuous tracking of it as it floats away, or maybe I should ask if it will float away?

It's not that anyone doubts that a warming period may be happening...it's the primary CAUSE that's in dispute. Warming AND cooling periods have occurred and will continue to occur due to NATURAL causes. This is not to say that human activities won't exacerbate the effects of such warming or cooling. Anyone doubting this would have to first explain the extended period of global warmth enjoyed by the dinosaurs--not too much human activity then, eh?

BTW, in the mid 1970's a learned scientific panel released a report concerned with global COOLING, not warming. It warned that we were enjoying a period of mild global temperatures in the curent INTER- GLACIAL period and that a new ice age could begin in the not too distant future. How quickly this is forgotten when New World Order politics enters the equation.

Although Earth appears to have pretty decent mechanisms to deal with either warming or cooling, the effects of cooling would be FAR worse for humanity. Perhaps the politics of science will cause the winds to blow in THAT direction in 25 years. One thing's certain--there will be periods of both warming and cooling in our future.

There's far too much politics (globalist/socialist) intertwined in the current flap over "global warming", and way too much emphasis on re-distributing the wealth of the developed countries to the basket cases. Politics and science rarely mix well and this debate is no exception.

Maybe someone could try towing it over to the Middle East where they are supposedly having such severe water problems (Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, etc.) that future water wars are being predicted?

Would it be necessary to land on it and plant a flag in the name of some host country, or would salvage rights apply?

Speaking from Minnesota, I'll again ask the question -- what's wrong with a little global warmning? Winter around here has been quite pleasant recently. If this is global warmning, I'm all for it.

Bring on the SUVs!

Point one is the considerable body of physical evidence that indicates we went into a worldwide cooling period about 2000 years ago. If we return to the status we were in prior to that point, what harm does it do?

Point two is the simple question of what a berg that size has to do with global warming? Such bergs were reported quite often in the 17th and 18th centuries. Are you arguing that global temps are moving to the level they occupied at that time? If not, then what?

And, finally, take a look at the historical ice cap maps for the last 30,000 years. The ice has been in retreat for all that time. Less than 20% is left, max, probably more like 10% of what was present at that time.

In trying to say the ice caps are permanent, you are certainly fighting the historical trend. Just because they have been around for thousands of years, doesn't make them a fixed feature in the story of the earth, not even on human time scales.

ATTENTION GLOBAL WARMING MORON:

Ever heard of the 2nd law of thermodynamics?

The universe is dying a heat loss death.

Besides- every single time there is a volcanic eruption of major proportions it LOWERS the global temp by a few degrees for a few years....years, moron.

All this global warming bull is thought up by earth worshiping, crystal fondeling, aromatherapy-puking, tree huggers. In short- NEW AGE FREAKS.
