Flash Card makers comparisons

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi There,

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the type of Product Brand for Flash Cards (i.e. for the Nikon Coolpix camera's)?

I notice that there is Lexar, Simple, etc...

Is there a difference in quality between manufacturers, or are they all basically the same?

Thanks,

Haskell:)

I use both Kodak and Lexar CF cards. I bought the Lexar because they claimed it was faster. I did not notice that much difference. It was somewhat faster, but not the 2x that was claimed. The buffer to card ransfer rate in the camera could be partally responsible. Both worked well overall. I have put 11,000 pictures since last May through them, with no failures. Until the buffer to card transfer rate improves, both will work pretty much the same.
