Poe did a lot of work and I would like to know how many items did he write?

I am not aware of anyone that could place a number that would accurately define the volume or Poe's works. Some works may not have been found yet and there have been numerous forgery attempts over the years so it is really difficult to say with any reasonable assurance. It is my opinion that while much has been made of his tales of horror, Poe also had a wonderful sense of humor as well as a brilliant insight into science and spiritual philosophy. Don't limit yourself to just his tales and poems... try reading some of his essays as well.
