Some tentative plans for O' practice this weekend (3/25-26).

It looks like a few of us will get together on Saturday for some sort of O' practice. It'll probably be at Clinton or Leavenworth. The plan is to use a 1:10,000 scale map (to help us get used to the scale that will be used at the relays).

We will probably do some sort of practice that will help us prepare for relays. One possibility is to design a course with a lot of legs. We'll all start together. When the first person gets to the control site, they'll wait until the last person is there. Then everyone will head to the next control. We did this at Leavenworth a month or so ago and it seemed to work well.

I am also planning to do some practice on Sunday. I think I will go back to Landahl Park (site of last weekend's PTOC map).

As plans get settled, I'll try to post them on this page. If you have questions or ideas, let me know.

Saturday's informal O'practice is going to be at Woodridge. The specific meeting time is still not settled (but it'll probably be in the mid-morning). There is some interest in going to a Chinese buffet for post-run replishment.

Anyone interested should let me know as soon as possible. I need to print maps and will only print maps for the people I know are going to be there.

Woodridge Informal O' Practice Report

Six of us got together yesterday morning to run at Woodridge -- Gene, Fritz, Mary, Mark M., Mike (a first-time orienteer who Mark brought out), and I. I designed a series of short courses. Gene, Fritz and I ran each of the short courses using a mass-start. The idea was to get us lots of practice at running with other runners around. It was fun. It also made us (or at least me) push the pace pretty well.

After the run, we went to the King Buffet for all-you-an-eat Chinese food.

I think I can be there. Spouse at work and babysitting taken care of and working that evening. Details are in order, then.
