Wayward jet closes DIA runway 5 hours By Marilyn Robinson Denver Post Staff Writer

Mar. 21 - An Air Wisconsin jet carrying 25 people ran off the runway while landing about 7:30 a.m. Monday at Denver International Airport after a flight from Bismarck, N.D.

No one was hurt, but the incident closed one of the airport's two main landing runways for about five hours, airport spokesman Chuck Cannon said.

"We don't know what happened," Cannon said. "The plane landed, and for some reason it went off the right side of the runway."

The landing gear was damaged, but officials weren't sure if that caused the mishap or occurred when the plane ran off the runway. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. Cannon said the runway was dry at the time and that the incident does not seem to be weather-related.
