SHEFFIELD, England, March 21 (Reuters) - Relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday have dismissed their manager Danny Wilson with immediate effect, the club said on Tuesday. The club's official website added a financial settlement had been agreed and said that assistant manager Peter Shreeves would take over as acting team manager.

Why now at this point in time? why not after the 8 - 0? Has it not been obvious that Weds are not good enough? Why blame Wilson? Is he a hopeless case? Can anybody do any better? Is the world round? Why are we put on this earth?

I'd heard that they were going to sack him earlier in the season but they didn't have the money for the compensation. they obviously got the 6 lucky numbers at the weekend and can afford to do it.

1 million payoff and hot tip to step into Peter Reid's shoes

I guess a million big ones make the pain a little easier to bear. Nice, decent bloke - hope he does well in his next position, unless of course he does become Mr. Heed's successor. Seven figures in the credit balance should make the pressure just a little easier to take.

Two consecutive relegation seasons doesn't look good on your CV. Even Peter Reid hasn't managed that.

Can't see Wilson getting the Sunderland job. More round the houses would be Steve Bruce to Sunderland, Wilson to Huddersfield (could call them Huddersfield-Sheffield) and Peter Reid to UB40 United, or Sheff Wed, who he has always wanted to manage

Football365 seems to think this will progress the move of Alexandersson to the lads .... anyone know whether that has any substance ??

Gilles de Bilde would be a possibility. Swap him for Maric? Dream on.

De Bilde would be very interesting. Swap with Maric? Dream on.

There are also a number of people who'll be out of contract in the summer - and therefore potential bargains now - namely Atherton, Sonner, Nolan and Briscoe. None of them of any interest to us though, I wouldn't think.
