variable latitude?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

My favorite film to shoot is tungsten balanced color negative film because it seems to have the widest latitude, i.e. can render detail in the widest range of light to dark. Are there digital cameras that have wide latitude, or, better, are there digital cameras that have variable latitude (that would be fantastic!) Thanks for any info, K

The exposure latitude of most digital cameras is somewhat less than the exposure latitude of film. There are a few high end digital backs that claim an 11 stop exposure range, however most are not that great.
