My MC is a cry baby!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

My male MC starts to meow very early in the morning, usually starting around 5:00 am and I'm not getting enough sleep! This has been going on for quite a long time. We have a 2nd MC and they are good buddies but he seems to enjoy waking up the household early. The female never makes a sound unless spoken to. Any suggestions on this? I would appreciate sleeping until atleast 6:00!

I have 3 cats, all rescued strays, and one is, I suspect, a Maine Coon. However, he wasn't the one waking me up early. Our grumpy Sylvester did for a while - usually at about 4:30 or thereabouts. One night I simply said to him: "Don't you be waking me up, Sylvester." He stopped; then started again some nights later. Once again, before bedtime, I told him to to do it, and again he stopped. This time for good. Now Dougan, our suspected Maine Coon, has started coming in and getting "playful" about 20 minutes before the alarm is due to go off. I haven't tried telling him not to, because I enjoy is wake-up call so much. But I think telling them not to wake you up is probably a good thing to try.

I have a MC and she does wake me each morning at 4:30am...this is our time for that special love that only MC's can give...she then makes sure that I am clean..licking my hair ..now if I tell her please don't do that she will stop...telling her not to do something really works very well. I didn't realize I even had a MC until about 2 months ago...she is 2 1/2 years old...what a joy she is...
