Nikon Coolpix 950 vs. Olympus 2020

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have done a lot of research on the net and have narrowed my choice of digital cameras down to the Nikon 950 and Olympus 2020. Does anyone having experience with both systems have a recommendation? I would really appreciate any feedback from one of the imaging resource experts.

I went through the same "crisis" a few months ago. The Nikon has a few more features, but you can't beat the size of the Oly. I finally bought the 2020 and I am very happy with the results, AND the size!

I'm no imaging resource expert but got both cameras.

Nikon 950 has great macro capability and the swirl lens sometimes can be very useful. My biggest complaint is the red-eye problem, you can never get away from it when taking indoor flash shots ! Olympus 2020 is very compact. The red-eye flash works much better than Nikon 950. It's easier to operate and has great battery life. Zooming is so loud it can be a bit scary...

Both cameras produce great pictures. If I have to choose one of them I think I'll keep the Olympus.
