The BBS design

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I was a part time poster on the old BBS - so you may not take my ideas not as serious as say someone like a clarky, or a screacher.

The truth is (which i feel, you may all agree), the design of this board is so basic that debaters may go elsewhere - which would be a major, major shame. Nothing like a good BBS debate!

When, if ever, is this board going to upgrade it's design to the standard of the old BBS?

some people are never satisfied!

Well, I'm always satisfied me. Especially when we thump the opposition for 3-1 (that's the Everton prediction btw)

Well I think this bbs is excellent. The format is irrelevent... it's the quality of the people on here that counts!!! ... I'll go then ;-((

Haway man... ...to: MFH

...you don't think anyone on here takes Screacher and me seriously, do ya?

Firstly, its good to have you on board again - keep posting. I would simply ask you to be patient - we came over here at very short notice when Communicata pulled the plug with only 24 hours notice. Duncan set this thing up at incredibly short notice to facilitate the continuation of THE very best Toon bbs, bar none - it could so very easily have died completely.

As Geordie has already said, the quality of the people contributing is far more important than the format, and in that respect I really believe this community is special and worth fighting for.

Duncan is working on format enhancements, as well as handling all the site admin., and is doing a heroic job for us. The biggest concern I have is the inability for potential new members to drop in and browse. This will eventually become a major problem as without the essential ingredient of new blood, the bbs could ultimately wither and die.

Time will tell whether we can develop a format that makes everyone comfortable, but in the meantime we at least have a home, and one that is working well, imo.

Give it a chance, Mag.
